According to more and more sources the new iPhone 5S, which is unofficially confirmed to be unveiled at an Apple Event on September 10, could be a game-changer. But not in the way that everyone was expecting - with 5-inch screens.
As
we have seen from past releases, the iPhone 5S is said to be following
convention and offering the same basic iPhone 5 shell but upgrading many of the
internal components. And this is where
it gets pretty compelling.
The
expected changes include:
-
Biometrics
or fingerprint sensors encased in a concave sapphire home button design,
providing added security and many other possibilities

But
how do they know? Well, no-one will know for sure until Apple makes the
announcement in September, however, many sites are now reporting leaked images
of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and are speculating, based on what they see.
MacRumours showed
iPhone 5S photos back in June which supported the Dual-LED flash theory (see also image above). The
iPhone 5S pictures revealed a pill shaped window instead of the usual round
window for the flash. It also showed the inner machinations of the device that
now support a raft of rumours about better battery life, faster processors and
the addition of an 128GB option. Many believe this will assist with more
demanding software. Enter the new totally overhauled operating system iOS7 and
it makes for interesting times.
French
blog Nowhereelse.fr
reported
iPhone 5S photos clearly showing a redesigned metal spacer cushion near the
home button, strongly pointing towards fingerprint sensors or biometrics being
incorporated (see image above) into the phone. This will
mean you can unlock your phone with your finger (or thumb) instead of a
four-digit PIN and allows for additional security for things like mobile
payments.
Biometrics are
set to be big news and the added security feature will definitely be a big plus
considering that data security will continue to be evermore paramount. With
Near Field Communication technology, which allows data sharing with a wave of
your hand, looking like an unlikely inclusion this time round, security needs
to be considered.
Further
to these revelations, BGR showed an iPhone 5S picture in June revealing a goldcoloured sim tray.
Now, at the end of August, it is difficult to find a story that isn’t highlighting
the fact that Apple are adding a new colour to the usual black and white
options.
It
is unclear if any of the iPhone 5S pictures being shown are real or mock-ups
based on what everyone believes will be on offer, but with the reported
announcement date so close, it’s probably a pretty safe bet that we will see
many of the rumours confirmed.
